T.R.O.S. heeft als voorwerp de ruimtelijke ordening en de stedenbouw in het Vlaams en het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. Dit vakgebied wint steeds aan belang. Bijna elke dag komen problemen inzake structuurplanning, verdeling van de open ruimte, herwaardering van de stedelijke ruimte e.a. uitgebreid in de media en de actualiteit aan bod. Ook de behoefte aan informatie en voorlichting rond dit thema neemt toe.

T.R.O.S. is op dat vlak dus een uiterst belangrijk medium om deze en andere nieuwe ontwikkelingen inzake ruimtelijke ordening en stedenbouw op de voet te volgen.
